Requirements:

For all classes you will be expected to bring a general sewing kit including sharp embroidery scissors and sewing machine where required. Additional magnification and lighting, if needed, will also be the responsibility of the student to provide.


Stitch & Chat with Di

Stitch and Chat allows students to work on their own project with assistance from an experienced lecturer. Not only a great for social activity but perfect for support with difficult elements of a project.

Beginners Smocking with Di Kirchner

Beginners smocking class allows students to develop skills and techniques to create smocked pieces. In this class students will first create a smocked panel and in the second class begin the smocking for a garment of their choice.

Beginners Bullion Roses with Di Kirchner

The bullion stitch is a staple for any embroider. In this class students will learn how to create beautiful bullion roses and refine their technique. Footstool is no included in Kit cost but is available for purchase in-store and online.

These beautiful panels of a little girl and boy in the garden are perfect as for beginners and experienced embroiders alike! Learn how to create this piece with embroiderer and designer Taetia

Constructing a Bishop with Di Kirchner

In this class students learn how to prepare, smock and construct a bishop. The morning will be devoted to Cutting out the garment, stitching and pleating. In the afternoon students will block and then smock their garment. Applicable to a variety of projects this is a class not to miss. Students are asked, where possible to bring their own pleater.

Beginners Needle Point Honey Pot with Di Kirchner

We have designed this class for beginners who would like to learn Needlepoint. This stunning design is beautifully subtle utilizing white threads on a buttery yellow back ground. Let our lecturer Di guide you through this project and come out with a gorgeous result.

Dressmaking Skills Class with Di Kirchner

This class is ideal for absolute beginners. The basic stitches and techniques are easily transferable to dressmaking for both adults and children. Students will make a sampler in the first class before starting their garment in the second class.

 Bee Pincushion

This stunning bee pincushion, worked in needlepoint, features a large coloured bee in a range of different stitches. In this kit you will receive all the instructions and supplies to create your sweet bee as well as to make tassels and twisted cord!

Heirloom Techniques Sewing Class

In this class students will create a sampler to learn different heirloom sewing techniques. The class will cover pin tucks, tucks, using lace insertion and lace edging. The kit will include all your fabrics, thread, twin needle and laces to complete the sampler. This is an ideal class for the experienced sewer looking to learn new techniques or consolidate existing skills.

 Papilio Maackii Class

Taetia McEwen has created a stunning, shimmering, colourful butterfly girl. She is known for these gorgeous butterfly girls, definitely not fairies, these lithe little ladies lounge on twigs and branches or flutter through the greenery. A form of Stumpwork, one class is spent stitching the background and ladies. The second class spent creating the wings. Using simple stitches these wings glitter. Based on the wing pattern of the real Papilio Macckii – the Alpine Black Swallowtail, just as each embroidery is unique so too are the markings of each individual Papilio Maackii.
